COMPANIONS
Our Karelians are raised in NJ in our home and not in a kennel. They are loving, loyal and protective family companions. We feel it is important to preserve this breed as they provide a great service as a life long companion and protector. Our Karelians are handled daily by myself and my children. We never have a shy pup. All of our dogs have been confident and not one has ever turned away from a bear chase. Our pups are well socialized with people and other animals. I am a certified Animal Control Officer with many years of experience in animal handling and training.

THUNDER (KEANUE DE LA FORTE)
Thunder is imported from Spain (De La Forte and registered with Real Sociedad Canina De Espana) & AKC
Karelians are extremely intelligent. That along with their strenght and agility allow them to chase off even the largest of Carnivores(Grizzly Bear) without incident.
Karelians form a close bond with their family. They are loving companions yet protective when need be. Our Karelians stay close by the children when we are outside. They periodically check the area for danger then return to play with the kids.
Karelians have many different tones to their bark. You will know when they want to play, when a stranger is near and when a predator is close by.
Our Karelians will let us know when a bear is near a good 5 minutes before anyone in the neighborhood encounters one. (The bear no longer come by our home) We have a good 3 house barrier since we have had our dogs.
I know if there is a bear or a coyote, just by the dogs bark and body language.
Karelian Bear Dogs are working dogs. They require a lot of exercise and love nothing more than being outdoors with their family. Although primarily an outdoor dog, they prefer to stay close to us no matter whether we are inside or out.
Steve Purdums dog Kira chases a bear out of their yard. Steve bought Kira from our kennel about 6 years ago.
